@adlrocha - Software Should Be Designed To Last
August Off Series Vol. I
As promised a few weeks ago, I’ll try to force myself to have a break from writing through August in order to build up my backlog so I can ensure more high quality content again starting on September. It is also as a good way to let my readers breath and catch up with all of my past writing (because that happens, at least to me, where I have a hard time sometimes to catch up with some of the newsletters I am subscribed to).
But having a break from writing doesn’t mean that I can’t share old pieces that I feel were good, and that may still be relevant for the times we live.
Like DHH, I believe in finished software products (that do not require constant updating to stay useful and relevant), and in software that is designed to last.
I feel like this topic is even more relevant now than when I wrote it a few years ago. For those of you that weren’t around then, enjoy, and let me know what you think.
I plan to have three more volumes of this summer series with old writings for those that may have missed and want to revisit them (of course, assuming I don’t feel the urge to publish some of the pieces from my backlog that I am already working on, because there are a few that I can’t wait to share, but I understand that August may not be the best month to publish them… or is it?).
Without further ado, here’s one from 6 years ago (time flies). Enjoy and let me know your thoughts.
Until next week!
@adlrocha - Software should be designed to last
Let’s start with a heads up, the reflection I am going to share in this publication may not be to everyone’s liking, but it is a topic I want to open up a debate on.
